Prologue

Mortals, like a plague, you multiply, killing anything in your path. It used to trouble my kind during the hours of the day, but not at night. At night, the city, the world was ours. You humans became only food and entertainment, for your unique race was simply common now. Night was the time of our reign; a time when we could roam free without fear. Ever since the Great Eclipse, my kind has ruled this planet you call Earth. Now, the sun rarely shows its deadly face; and we are ever so grateful for that. Many years have passed and the world does not appear to look the way you might see it now. The simple, picnics crowded beaches, blissful children, endless politics ....all of it is gone. You mortals live in fear of my kind, locked inside your rooms as your body shakes with terror. No longer does the sun repel us, no longer do we avoid you; for we no longer have to. These creatures you dread, these demons that only dwell in darkness.....are vampires.

You may believe you know what a vampire is, but no; you could never truly understand my kind. One could wander the Earth, searching for facts but they would never find them. We vampires have been here longer than you'd ever know, hiding for so long in the depths of the shadows, away from the world that was once your paradise. But now, we walk along the smooth paved streets that you once walked. We bath in the light of the stars and the moon, never to be defeated by the various things you were told would destroy us. So now, your peaceful planet is no longer a cheerful dreamland. Your nightmares have come true, and alas.......so have mine.

I dwell here upon these pages, for my story has not yet been told. No longer does my kind see the truth; they have all become corrupt. I doubt even the most fiery depths of the underworld would accept them. They know nothing of what they do, they know nothing of what I feel. But you, you must listen closely; for my life is soon to end here when the sun reaches the sky.  My words remain here, bound and written for you to read, to discover the life that I now must leave behind. This is the time to forget your life, allow yourselves to enter mine. Look beyond the pages of this book and see the tale from the eyes......of a vampire.
